Success Story

Read how a free surgery funded by Transparent Hands donors transformed a patient's life.

Hoorain Fatima, a 1-year-old girl from Kasur, had been struggling with severe breathing difficulties since birth. She also suffered from weakness and was unable to gain weight like other children of her age. Even simple activities such as feeding or crying left her gasping for air. Concerned for her well-being, her parents consulted a local doctor. After undergoing a detailed examination, Hoorain was diagnosed with Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD), Right Ventricular Outflow Tract (RVOT) obstruction, and Double-Chambered Right Ventricle (DCRV). These congenital heart conditions disrupted normal blood flow and caused a serious threat to her life. The doctor recommended VSD closure and RVOT resection to correct her heart defects.

However, the cost of the surgery was overwhelming for her family. Hoorain lives in a modest home with her parents and two siblings. Her father is the sole breadwinner of the family, working at a local dispensary and earning PKR 25,000 per month. With a modest home and two other children to care for, affording the cost of cardiac surgery was impossible for them. During this time of need, her family reached out to Transparent Hands. After listening to their concerns, we promptly registered her case.

On November 7, 2025, Hoorain was admitted to the University of Lahore Teaching Hospital. The following day, Dr. Faiz Rasool performed a successful VSD closure and RVOT resection. The surgery was completed without complications, and she was discharged in stable condition on November 11, 2025.

Hoorain’s parents expressed their gratitude as follows: “Before surgery, our daughter was having a challenging life. Now, after the successful operation, her life has changed. We don’t have words to describe our happiness. Hoorain can now live a healthy life. Thanks a lot for being there for us.”

Today, Hoorain is recovering well. She can now enjoy the cherished moments of her childhood like other kids. Her family is incredibly grateful to you and the PCHF for saving Hoorain’s life.
