Success Story
Read how a free surgery funded by Transparent Hands donors transformed a patient's life.
Hina Jawaid, a 41-year-old woman from Hyderabad, had been living with swelling near her navel for the past five years. Along with the visible lump, she frequently experienced indigestion and persistent discomfort that gradually worsened over time. As the swelling increased in size, everyday activities such as standing for long periods, bending, and managing household responsibilities became increasingly difficult. The condition not only affected her physical health but also made it challenging for her to care for her family with ease. Concerned about her worsening symptoms, Hina visited a local hospital for an evaluation. After a thorough examination, the doctor diagnosed her with a para-umbilical hernia. This condition develops when abdominal tissue pushes through a weak area in the abdominal wall near the navel, causing noticeable swelling and discomfort. If left untreated, it can lead to serious complications. To repair the hernia and relieve her symptoms, the doctor recommended mesh hernioplasty.
For Hina's family, affording the surgery was impossible. She lives in a modest home with her husband, two sons, and her mother-in-law. Her husband remained unemployed for nearly one and a half years, placing a significant financial burden on the family. Although he recently secured a private job, he earns only PKR 35,000 per month. As the sole earning member, his income is spent on food, utility bills, children's expenses, and other household necessities, leaving no savings for this surgical treatment. Hoping for a chance to restore Hina's health, the family reached out to Transparent Hands. After reviewing her medical reports and financial circumstances, Transparent Hands registered her case for treatment.
On June 10, 2026, Hina was admitted to the Isra University Welfare Hospital in Hyderabad. Her mesh hernioplasty was successfully performed by Dr. Shahzad Soomro on June 11, 2026. After receiving post-operative care and observation, she was discharged in stable condition on June 13, 2026.
Hina expressed her joy as follows:
"For years, I lived with discomfort that made even routine household tasks difficult. Affording the surgery was beyond my family's reach due to financial hardships. Your generosity has given me relief and new hope for the future. Thank you for changing my life."
Today, Hina is recovering steadily and regaining her strength with every passing day. The surgery has relieved the discomfort that affected her daily life.
Her family is deeply grateful for your generosity, which made her treatment possible.
