Read how a free surgery funded by Transparent Hands donors transformed a patient's life.

Rehana Zafar, a 47-year-old woman from Karachi, was experiencing discomfort due to a lump in her left breast. The lump was increasing in size and became increasingly painful. Everyday activities such as cooking, cleaning, and caring for her children became difficult due to constant pain and weakness. Concerned about her deteriorating health, Rehana visited a local hospital, where her doctor conducted a series of diagnostic tests, including imaging and biopsy. After a thorough medical evaluation, she was diagnosed with cancer of the left breast. To treat this issue, the doctor advised her to undergo a Left-Sided Modified Radical Mastectomy (MRM), a surgical procedure involving the removal of the affected breast tissue and nearby lymph nodes.

Unfortunately, Rehana’s family could not afford the cost of surgery. She lives in a modest home with her husband and three children. Her husband works as an electrician and earns just PKR 40,000 per month, which barely covers household expenses such as food, school fees, and utilities. Her diagnosis placed immense stress on the family, leaving them feeling helpless. During this difficult time, Rehana approached Transparent Hands for support. After listening to her concerns, we promptly registered her case.

On October 23, 2025, Rehana was admitted to the Bait ul Sukoon Cancer Hospital in Karachi. Dr. Farah Idris successfully performed the Left-Sided Modified Radical Mastectomy. The surgery went smoothly, and Rehana was kept under close post-operative observation. She was discharged in satisfactory condition after her surgery.

Rehana shared her happiness as follows: “I lived in fear every day, worrying about my children and my future. The pain had taken over my life. After the surgery, I feel relieved. Your support changed my life, restored my strength, and gave me the courage to move forward. Thanks for being there for me.”

Rehana is gradually resuming her daily activities. Her health and quality of life have improved significantly. She and her family are deeply grateful to you for providing timely treatment and giving her new hope and strength.
