Read how a free surgery funded by Transparent Hands donors transformed a patient's life.

Muhammad Awais, a 27-year-old man from Lahore, was suffering from shortness of breath and chest discomfort. Daily activities left him feeling fatigued and weak. Due to his illness, his quality of life was badly affected. Despite these challenges, Awais worked as a tailor and supported his family. He has a history of BT shunt surgery and open-heart surgery for total correction of TOF. However, he recently began experiencing heart-related complications again. Concerned, he visited a local hospital for a thorough evaluation. After detailed tests, the doctor diagnosed him with severe Pulmonary Stenosis with a Dilated Right Ventricle (RV). The doctor advised pulmonary valve replacement through a re-do open-heart surgery to restore proper heart function and prevent life-threatening complications. Awais’s family could not afford the high cost of this surgery.

Awais lives in a small rented house with his father and two other family members. Together, Awais and his father, who works as a laborer, earn around PKR 48,000 per month. Most of this income goes towards house rent, utility bills, and basic living expenses. Due to their financial constraints, they couldn’t afford Awais’s life-changing cardiac surgery. During this critical time, Awais reached out to Transparent Hands for help. Recognizing the gravity of his condition, we promptly registered his case.

On September 17, 2025, Awais was admitted to Ittefaq Hospital, Lahore. On September 19, 2025, Dr. Asim Khan successfully performed the pulmonary valve replacement surgery. The procedure went smoothly, and Awais received thorough post-operative care. He was discharged in stable condition on September 24, 2025.

Awais expressed his happiness as follows: “My breathing is no longer a constant struggle, and I feel strong now. Due to your support, my surgery was successful. I can now spend a healthy life. I am truly thankful for your generous support, which helped me overcome this life-threatening heart condition.”

Awais is now recovering well. He can now carry out his routine tasks and perform well at work. He and his family are incredibly grateful to you and the PCHF for making a valuable difference in Awais’s life.
