Success Story
Read how a free surgery funded by Transparent Hands donors transformed a patient's life.
Muhammad Umar, a 5-year-old boy from Faisalabad, had been suffering from shortness of breath and chest discomfort since birth. His parents noticed that his lips sometimes turned blue, which worried them a lot. Instead of enjoying a happy childhood, Umar was struggling with his health. Worried about his condition, Umar’s parents took him to a nearby hospital for a detailed check-up. After several tests and examinations, the doctor diagnosed him with Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF). It is a serious heart condition that affects the oxygen level in the blood. To fix the problem, his doctor advised open-heart surgery for total correction. However, the cost of the surgery was overwhelming for his family.
Umar lives in a modest home with his parents and two siblings. His father holds a private job and earns only PKR 40,000 per month. This income is just enough to manage household expenses. Due to their financial hardships, arranging money for such a major surgery was not possible for them. During this difficult situation, Umar’s family reached out to Transparent Hands for help. After reviewing his medical reports and financial condition, we registered his case.
On November 4, 2025, Umar was admitted to the University of Lahore Teaching Hospital. The following day, Dr. Faiz Rasool successfully performed his open-heart surgery. The procedure went well, and Umar was kept in the ICU for close monitoring. He was discharged in stable condition on November 8, 2025.
Umar’s parents shared their feelings as follows:
“We were extremely worried about our son’s life. We felt helpless because we didn’t have enough money to pay for his heart surgery. Your support came at the right time for our family. Now we feel relieved. We are truly thankful to you for helping our child.”
Today, Umar is recovering well at home.
His family is deeply thankful to you and the Pakistan Children’s Heart Foundation for saving his life.
