Read how a free surgery funded by Transparent Hands donors transformed a patient's life.

Gul Muhammad, a 54-year-old man from Karachi, had been suffering from pain and discomfort in his upper abdominal region for over a year. His condition caused constant nausea, frequent vomiting, and sharp pain on the right side of his abdomen. Over time, these symptoms worsened, making it increasingly difficult for him to work, drive long hours, and support his family. Worried about his deteriorating health, Gul Muhammad visited a nearby hospital, where a doctor conducted an ultrasound scan and necessary laboratory tests. He was diagnosed with Cholelithiasis (gallstones), a condition in which hardened deposits form in the gallbladder and block the normal flow of bile. The doctor recommended a Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy to remove the gallbladder and relieve his symptoms.

Despite constant pain, Gul Muhammad continued driving his rickshaw daily, earning around PKR 15,000 per month. His elder son works as a tailor and earns approximately PKR 10,000, while other son earns PKR 15,000 from a shoe shop. With a combined household income of nearly PKR 40,000, the family struggled to meet basic expenses. They were unable to pay for Gul’s surgery. In desperation, Gul Muhammad approached Transparent Hands for help, and his case was registered.

On September 9, 2025, Gul Muhammad was admitted to Murshid Hospital, Karachi. On the same day, Dr. Attaullah Roonjho successfully performed his Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy. After surgery, the medical team closely monitored his condition and provided necessary post-operative care. Gul Muhammad was discharged in stable condition on September 11, 2025.

Gul Muhammad shared his gratitude as follows: “For months, this constant pain made every day exhausting, and earning for my family became extremely difficult. Due to your support, I received the surgery. I am recovering steadily and feeling hopeful again. I sincerely thank you, as your kindness enabled me to regain my health.”

Today, Gul Muhammad is recovering well and experiencing significant relief from pain and discomfort. He is gradually resuming daily activities. His family is deeply thankful to you, as your support has restored his health and given him new hope.
