Success Story
Read how a free surgery funded by Transparent Hands donors transformed a patient's life.
Maliha Shehzadi, a 17-year-old girl from Lahore, had been suffering from pain in her upper right abdomen for the past year. The pain was often accompanied by nausea, vomiting, and indigestion, especially after eating oily or fatty foods. These frequent bouts of discomfort made it difficult for her to focus on her studies and enjoy a normal teenage life. Concerned about her condition, her parents took her to a nearby hospital for medical evaluation. After conducting an ultrasound scan and several lab tests, the doctor diagnosed her with Symptomatic Gallstones. To provide her with long-term relief and prevent future complications, the doctor recommended a Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy.
However, the cost of the surgery was beyond her family’s means. Maliha lives in a small house in Lahore with her parents and one sibling. Her father works as a security guard and earns around PKR 35,000 per month. His modest income is barely sufficient to cover their food, and daily living expenses. With no savings or additional support, the family could not afford the surgery. Seeing her suffer each day filled their hearts with helplessness and worry. During their search for help, they reached out to Transparent Hands for support. After analyzing her condition, we registered her case.
On September 25, 2025, Maliha was admitted to Evercare Hospital, Lahore, where her surgery was successfully performed by Dr. Ahmad Fawad. The procedure went smoothly, and her gallbladder containing multiple stones was safely removed. After receiving appropriate postoperative care, she was discharged from the hospital in stable condition on September 26, 2025.
Maliha expressed her feelings as follows: “Before surgery, I was experiencing pain and could hardly study or eat properly. After my surgery, I finally feel free from all the discomfort. I can now focus on my studies again and live without constant pain. I am truly grateful to you for helping me undergo this treatment.”
Maliha is now recovering well and has resumed her routine activities with new energy. She no longer experiences abdominal pain or nausea and is leading a healthier life.
She and her family are deeply grateful to you for giving her a chance to heal and move forward.
