Dua Fatima, a 3-year-old girl from Rawalpindi, had been living in complete silence since birth. Her parents noticed early on that she did not respond to sounds, voices, or everyday noises like other children of her age. As time passed, it became clear that her inability to hear was affecting her development. Concerned, Dua’s parents consulted a doctor at a local hospital. After undergoing a detailed clinical evaluation and hearing tests, Dua was diagnosed with Sensorineural Hearing Loss. To give her a chance at hearing and developing speech, cochlear implant surgery was recommended. However, the cost of cochlear implant surgery was far beyond the family’s financial capacity.

Dua lives in a modest home with her parents and a sibling. Her father works as a police constable and earns PKR 75,000 per month. This income is barely sufficient to cover household expenses, utility bills, and basic needs, leaving no room for such an expensive and life-changing procedure. With hope in their hearts, her family contacted Transparent Hands for help. Moved by their plea, we registered her case.

With the support of generous donors, Dua Fatima was admitted to Evercare Hospital, Lahore, on November 29, 2025. On the same day, Dr. Imran Saeed successfully implanted the internal component of her cochlear implant. Dua received essential post-operative care and was discharged in satisfactory condition on November 30, 2025.

Six weeks after the surgery, the external component of the cochlear implant was installed. In addition, Dua began speech therapy sessions that will help her recognize different sounds. Dua’s parents expressed their gratitude as follows:
