Success Story
Read how a free surgery funded by Transparent Hands donors transformed a patient's life.
Habiba Bibi, a 10-year-old girl from Karachi, had been suffering with pain and swelling in her left groin area for the past four years. At a very young age, she experienced a condition that gradually worsened and began affecting her daily life. Daily activities such as walking and sitting became increasingly difficult for her. Concerned about her condition, Habiba’s parents took her to a local hospital in Karachi, where she was examined by a doctor. After a detailed medical evaluation and some necessary diagnostic tests, she was diagnosed with a left-sided Inguinal Hernia. Considering her condition, the doctor recommended a surgical procedure known as herniotomy to repair the hernia. However, her family couldn’t afford her treatment.
Habiba is a school-going girl living in a modest rented house with her parents and three siblings in Karachi. Her father works as a shopkeeper and earns a monthly income of around PKR 30,000. This income is sufficient to manage their household expenses, including house rent, utility bills, food, and the education of the children. Due to their financial hardships, arranging the cost of the recommended surgery was far beyond their reach. During this difficult time, the family approached Transparent Hands for support. After carefully reviewing Habiba’s medical reports and financial background, her case was registered.
With the support of generous donors, Habiba was admitted to the Altamash General Hospital in Karachi on March 31, 2026. Dr. Mariya Ishaq successfully performed her herniotomy on the same day. The procedure went smoothly without any complications, and Habiba was closely monitored during her recovery period. After receiving post-operative care, she was discharged in stable condition on April 1, 2026.
Habiba’s parents shared their happiness as follows:
“As parents, seeing our daughter unable to walk, sit, or study properly was heartbreaking for us. After the surgery, we feel immense relief and gratitude. She is recovering now. We are deeply thankful to you for making her surgery possible.”
Habiba is no longer facing the complications that once limited her life. This significant change in her life was made possible because of your generous support.
Her family extends their deepest gratitude to you for ensuring her recovery from an inguinal hernia.
