Success Story
Read how a free surgery funded by Transparent Hands donors transformed a patient's life.
Muhammad Yeman, a 12-year-old boy from Gujranwala, had been facing serious health challenges since birth due to a complex heart condition. He suffered from shortness of breath and chest discomfort, which worsened even with minimal physical activity. Simple childhood activities such as walking and playing left him exhausted. His parents took him to a local hospital and consulted a doctor. After performing necessary tests and examinations, the doctor diagnosed Yeman with Tetralogy of Fallot, a complex congenital heart defect that affects normal blood flow through the heart. To manage his condition, he previously underwent a left-sided Blalock-Taussig Shunt surgery, which provided temporary relief by improving blood flow to the lungs. However, as time passed, his symptoms returned.
During a recent follow-up, further evaluation revealed small Pulmonary Arteries, which explained the recurrence of his complications. His doctor advised open-heart surgery involving Pulmonary Artery Plasty along with a right-sided Blalock-Taussig Shunt to improve circulation and stabilize his condition.
The cost of this complex surgery was far beyond the family’s financial capacity. Muhammad Yeman lives in a small house with eleven family members. His father and two uncles work as salesmen at a shop, earning a combined monthly income of PKR 52,000. This income barely covers food, utility bills, and other household expenses, making it impossible to afford specialized cardiac treatment. During this difficult situation, the family approached Transparent Hands. Moved by his plea, we registered his case.
Muhammad Yeman was admitted to the Ittefaq Hospital on September 18, 2025. His surgery was scheduled and successfully performed on September 20, 2025. The open-heart procedure involved Pulmonary Artery Plasty along with a right-sided Blalock–Taussig Shunt to improve blood circulation to his lungs. The surgery went smoothly, and Yeman was placed under close post-operative monitoring. After a gradual and stable recovery, he was discharged from the hospital on October 18, 2025, in improved condition.
Yeman’s parents expressed their gratitude as follows: “Yeman has lived with breathing difficulties since childhood. Watching him struggle every day broke our hearts. With your support, his surgery was completed successfully. His breathing is improving. We are truly thankful to you for giving him new strength and hope.”
Today, Muhammad Yeman is recovering steadily. His breathing has improved, and he can now participate more actively in daily life.
Your support has given Muhammad Yeman new strength and the chance to move forward with better health and hope. His family is grateful to you and the PCHF for saving Yeman’s life.
