Success Story

Read how a free surgery funded by Transparent Hands donors transformed a patient's life.

Muhammad Sufian Haider, a 3-year-old boy from Swat, had been suffering from breathlessness and chest discomfort since birth. His parents noticed that even simple activities would leave him weak, fatigued, and uncomfortable. It made it difficult for him to enjoy normal childhood activities like other children of his age. Concerned about his condition, Sufian’s parents took him to a nearby hospital for a thorough evaluation. After essential tests, the doctor diagnosed him with a large Atrial Septal Defect and Right Ventricular Volume Overload. To save his life, the doctor advised open-heart surgery for Atrial Septal Defect closure. However, the cost of the surgery was overwhelming for his family.

Sufian lives with his parents and two siblings in a small rented house. His father works as a daily-wage laborer, earning PKR 30,000 per month. This limited income hardly covered their utility bills and food expenses. After covering their essentials, they were left with nothing to save for Sufian’s surgery. During their search for help, they reached out to Transparent Hands and asked us to register his case.

On September 25, 2025, Sufian was admitted to Ittefaq Hospital, Lahore. On September 26, 2025, Dr. Asim Khan successfully performed the Atrial Septal Defect closure surgery. Sufian received attentive post-operative care and was discharged in stable condition on September 30, 2025

His parents shared their gratitude as follows: “We cannot describe the relief and joy we feel seeing Sufian healthy. Your support has given him a chance to grow stronger and enjoy life like other children. We are truly thankful to you for providing him with the necessary surgery and saving his life.”

Sufian’s life has changed after surgery. He can now enjoy the cherished moments of his childhood. His family is deeply thankful to you and the PCHF for empowering Sufian with life-saving heart surgery.
