Success Story
Read how a free surgery funded by Transparent Hands donors transformed a patient's life.
Shafi Muhammad, an 8-year-old boy from Sujawal, had been suffering from a painful swelling in his right groin that gradually became more severe over time. The persistent discomfort made it difficult for him to run, play, or move freely like other children his age. Even daily activities became painful, and his parents watched helplessly as their young son struggled with increasing pain and limited mobility. Concerned about his worsening condition, Shafi’s family brought him to a Transparent Hands free medical camp organized in Sujawal, where he received a detailed medical examination. After evaluation, the doctors diagnosed him with a right-sided inguinal hernia, a condition in which part of the intestine pushes through a weak area in the abdominal wall, causing painful swelling in the groin. To relieve his pain and prevent future complications, the doctors recommended Herniotomy surgery.
Shafi belongs to a financially struggling family living in a small hut in Sujawal. He lives with his parents and five siblings, all dependent on the modest income earned by his father, who works as a laborer. His father earns nearly PKR 18,000 per month, which is barely enough to provide food and other basic necessities for the family. In these difficult circumstances, arranging funds for surgery was impossible for them. As Shafi’s condition continued to worsen, his parents feared that delaying treatment might seriously affect his health and future. With hope in their hearts, they turned to Transparent Hands for assistance. After reviewing Shafi’s medical reports and understanding the family’s financial hardships, Transparent Hands registered his case for treatment.
On April 20, 2026, Shafi was admitted to the Isra University Welfare Hospital in Hyderabad. The following day, on April 21, 2026, his Herniotomy was successfully performed by Dr. Tek Chand. The operation fixed the hernia and relieved the painful swelling that had been troubling him for so long. After receiving proper post-operative care and observation, Shafi was discharged from the hospital in stable condition on April 22, 2026.
Expressing their gratitude, Shafi’s parents shared:
“It was heartbreaking to watch our son suffer in pain while we were unable to afford his treatment. After the surgery, he is finally feeling comfortable and active again. Your support gave our child a chance to live without pain, and we will always remain thankful for this kindness.”
Shafi is now recovering happily and slowly returning to the joyful activities of childhood that his condition once prevented him from enjoying.
His family is deeply grateful to you for helping restore their son’s health and bringing hope back into their lives.
