Muhammad Mujtaba, a 7-year-old boy from Mardan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, had been suffering for several months due to recurrent episodes of sore throat. He experienced fever, painful swallowing, and severe throat discomfort that left him weak and unable to enjoy his childhood. He struggled to sleep because of throat pain and difficulty breathing. Worried about his declining health, his parents took him to a nearby hospital. After a detailed checkup, laboratory tests, and a thorough assessment, the doctor diagnosed him with Chronic Tonsillitis. The doctor recommended a tonsillectomy to remove the infected tonsils and prevent future complications. However, his family couldn’t afford his surgery.
Mujtaba lives with his parents and three siblings in a modest rented home in Mardan. His father is an Imam at a local mosque and earns only PKR 20,000 per month. With this low income, the family struggles to meet essential expenses such as rent, food, electricity, and school fees for the children. Saving money for a costly surgical procedure was simply impossible for them. During this difficult time, his parents reached out to Transparent Hands for help. Moved by their plea, we registered his case.
On September 28, 2025, Mujtaba was admitted to Darman Medical Complex, Shergarh. On the same day, Dr. Zafar Ayaz successfully performed his tonsillectomy. The infected tonsils were removed, eliminating the source of his constant pain and repeated infections. After attentive post-operative care, he was discharged in stable condition on the same day.
