Success Story
Read how a free surgery funded by Transparent Hands donors transformed a patient's life.
Muhammad Umer, a 1-year-old boy from Kasur, had been facing severe health challenges since birth. He suffered from shortness of breath and chest discomfort, even with minimal physical activity. His skin and lips often turned blue, alarming his parents and indicating that his body was not receiving enough oxygen. These symptoms not only affected his daily comfort but also limited his growth and development. Concerned about Umer’s condition, his parents took him to a local hospital for a thorough evaluation. After performing a detailed medical examination and necessary diagnostic tests, the doctor diagnosed him with Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF). His doctor recommended open-heart surgery for total correction, but the cost of the surgery was beyond the family’s financial means.
Umer lives in a modest home with his parents and one sibling. His father works as a gardener, earning just PKR 42,000 per month, which barely covers household expenses such as food and utilities. With such limited resources, the family could not afford the life-saving cardiac procedure. During this challenging situation, Umer’s family reached out to Transparent Hands. Moved by their plea, we registered his case.
On November 16, 2025, Muhammad Umer was admitted to the Ittefaq Hospital in Lahore. Dr. Asim Khan successfully performed his open-heart surgery for total correction on November 18 2025. The procedure was completed smoothly, and Umer received essential post-operative care. He was discharged in stable condition on November 22, 2025.
Umer’s parents shared their feelings after the surgery as follows: “Our son had struggled with serious breathing problems since birth, and we feared for his life. After the surgery, he is breathing comfortably. We are deeply grateful to you and the PCHF for giving Umer the chance to live a healthy and happy life.”
Today, Muhammad Umer is recovering steadily. His breathing has improved, and he is gradually becoming more active. Umer and his family are sincerely thankful to you for providing him with the opportunity
