Read how a free surgery funded by Transparent Hands donors transformed a patient's life.

Haleema Majid, a 4-year-old girl from Gujrat, had been suffering from serious health complications since birth. She frequently experienced shortness of breath, extreme fatigue, and chest discomfort even during mild physical activity. Her parents often noticed her lips and fingers turning blue, a frightening sign that deeply concerned them. These symptoms limited her ability to play, move freely, and live like other children of her age. Worried about her worsening condition, Haleema’s parents took her to a doctor for a detailed medical evaluation. After conducting necessary examinations and diagnostic tests, she was diagnosed with Tetralogy of Fallot. Open-heart surgery for total correction was advised to repair the structural abnormalities and restore proper heart function.

However, the cost of this life-saving procedure was far beyond the family’s financial capacity. Haleema lives in a modest home with her parents and three siblings. Her father works as a school security guard and earns only PKR 33,000 per month. This limited income is barely sufficient to manage household expenses, leaving no room to afford specialized cardiac surgery. During this difficult period, the family approached Transparent Hands, and Haleema’s case was registered.

On October 07, 2025, Haleema was admitted to the Ittefaq Hospital in Lahore. Dr. Asim Khan successfully performed her open-heart surgery for total correction on the following day. The procedure went smoothly, and Haleema was kept under close medical supervision for post-operative care. She was discharged in stable condition on October 12, 2025.

Haleema’s parents shared their emotions in the following words: “Our daughter struggled to breathe since birth, and every day was filled with fear. Watching her skin turn blue was heartbreaking. We felt helpless before this surgery. With your support, her heart was repaired successfully. She is improving daily and becoming more active. We are truly thankful to you for saving her life and future.”

Today, Haleema is recovering. Her breathing has improved. Your support has given Haleema the chance to grow, play, and live a healthier childhood filled with strength and hope. Her family extends their deepest gratitude to you and the PCHF for saving her life.
