Read how a free surgery funded by Transparent Hands donors transformed a patient's life.

Fozia Bibi, a 43-year-old woman from Lahore, was experiencing pain in both of her knee joints. Activities like walking and standing for a long time became extremely challenging for her. Due to this illness, she faced challenges in performing her routine tasks and caring for her children. After suffering for a while, she decided to consult a specialist, who diagnosed her with Osteoarthritis of both knees. However, her left knee joint was more symptomatic than the right one. Therefore, her doctor advised left-sided Total Knee Replacement (TKR) surgery. However, the cost of the surgery was beyond her family’s means.

Fozia lives in a wooden house with her husband, two children, and two other family members. Her husband and son work as daily wage laborers. However, their income is just enough to cover their household expenses, including utility bills and grocery expenses. Given their financial situation, they were unable to pay for Fozia’s life-changing surgery. Their neighbors became a source of hope for her when they told her about Transparent Hands. She contacted us and asked us to register her case.

With the generous support of donors, Fozia was admitted to the Pakistan Society for Rehabilitation of the Disabled (PSRD) on June 13, 2025. At that time, her condition was not stable enough to undergo surgery. Therefore, she was discharged and later readmitted on June 25, 2025. Her surgery was successfully performed by Dr. Saleem Bashir, and the procedure went smoothly. Fozia was discharged in stable condition on June 27, 2025.

Fozia described her heartfelt gratitude as follows: “Being able to walk pain-free again is a happiness I never thought I’d experience. Thanks to you, my life has changed forever. I am grateful for the surgery that has brought so much joy back into my world.”

Today, Fozia is recovering well and has already noticed a significant reduction in pain. She can walk with much more ease and is gradually regaining her strength. Her family is thankful to you for making her recovery possible, giving her the opportunity to live with comfort once again.
