Success Story
Read how a free surgery funded by Transparent Hands donors transformed a patient's life.
Muhammad Azhan, a 2-year-old boy from Khushab, had been struggling with serious vision problems since early childhood. His poor eyesight made it difficult for him to recognize objects, explore his surroundings, and move around with confidence. Azhan faced challenges that affected his development and daily life. His parents were deeply concerned as they watched him struggle. Azhan's family took him to a local hospital and consulted a doctor. After a detailed evaluation, the doctor diagnosed him with bilateral aphakia, a condition in which the natural lenses of both eyes are absent, resulting in significantly reduced vision.
In August 2025, with the support of Transparent Hands, the Secondary Intraocular Lens (IOL) surgery for his right eye was performed. However, his left eye still required surgery. To further improve his eyesight, the doctor recommended Secondary IOL surgery for his left eye.
Azhan lives in a modest rented house with his parents and two siblings. Azhan's father works as a daily wage painter and earns only PKR 22,000 per month. His limited income is spent on house rent, food, utility bills, and other essential household expenses. Determined to complete their son's treatment, the family once again reached out to Transparent Hands. Moved by their plea, we registered his case.
On June 2, 2026, Azhan was admitted to the Bakhtawar Amin Memorial Hospital in Multan. His left-sided Secondary IOL surgery was successfully performed by Dr. Hassan Raza on June 3, 2026. During the procedure, an AcrySof intraocular lens was carefully implanted to improve vision in his left eye. Following post-operative care and observation, he was discharged in stable condition on the day of surgery.
Sharing his gratitude, Azhan's father said:
"Your support has completed Azhan’s treatment and given him a brighter future. We are deeply thankful for your kindness and generosity that changed our child's life."
Today, Azhan is recovering well and adjusting to the improvement in his vision. Completing the treatment for both eyes has opened new possibilities for his growth and development.
His family is grateful for your generosity, which has given their son a better chance to learn, play, and experience the world with greater confidence.
