Read how a free surgery funded by Transparent Hands donors transformed a patient's life.

Attique Ahmad, a 40-year-old man from Vehari, Punjab, was struggling with blurry and dim vision. His deteriorating eyesight made it difficult for him to see his loved ones’ faces clearly and perform daily tasks independently. As a rickshaw driver, his visual impairment caused significant challenges, affecting both his work and his ability to earn a livelihood. Concerned about his worsening condition, Attique visited a local hospital for a detailed evaluation. After performing necessary examinations and diagnostic tests, the doctor diagnosed him with a cataract in his left eye, a condition where the natural lens becomes clouded. To restore his sight, left-sided Phacoemulsification with Intraocular Lens implantation (Phaco + IOL) was recommended.

Unfortunately, the cost of the surgery was beyond Attique’s financial means. He lives in a modest home with his wife and four children and is the sole breadwinner of the household. As a rickshaw driver, he earns only PKR 20,000 per month. This income barely covers essential household expenses such as groceries, utility bills, and school fees. With limited resources, affording eye surgery was impossible. During this challenging time, Attique approached Transparent Hands, and his case was registered.

On September 27, 2025, Attique was admitted to Bakhtawar Amin Trust Hospital in Multan. Dr. Safeet Shehbaz Khan successfully performed the left-sided Phaco + IOL surgery using the Prosert AQ lens. The procedure went smoothly, and Attique received proper post-operative care. He was discharged in stable condition on September 29, 2025.

Attique shared his feelings as follows: “My vision was deteriorating, and daily life was becoming tough. I could no longer see clearly while working or caring for my family. With your support, my cataract surgery was completed successfully, and I can see clearly again. I am thankful to you for restoring my sight and giving me hope and independence.”

Today, Attique is recovering well. His improved vision allows him to drive safely, perform household tasks efficiently, and spend quality time with his family.

Your support has changed Attique’s life, and his family is grateful for it.
