Asma Rehmat Ali, a 55-year-old woman from Hyderabad, had been experiencing pain in her left flank for seven years. She also experienced an increased urge to urinate and a burning sensation during urination. This illness affected her ability to carry out her routine tasks and care for her child. Concerned about her condition, she visited a doctor at a local hospital. After a thorough examination, the doctor diagnosed Asma with Pelvi Ureteric Junction Obstruction (PUJO). To ease her discomfort, the doctor recommended a Left Ureterorenoscopy (URS) with DJ stent insertion. However, the cost of the surgery was beyond her family’s means.
Asma lives in a modest rented home with her husband, son, and other family members. Her husband is currently unemployed. Her son works irregularly as an electrician, earning barely PKR 15,000 per month.
