Success Story

Read how a free surgery funded by Transparent Hands donors transformed a patient's life.

Ajwa Fatima, a one-year-old girl from Jhang, had faced immense health challenges since birth. She was suffering from breathlessness and chest discomfort. Even simple activities such as crying, laughing, or feeding caused immense challenges, leaving her exhausted and uncomfortable. Her parents also noticed that her lips and fingers often turned blue. Worried about their daughter’s condition, Ajwa’s parents took her to a local hospital, where a doctor carried out detailed examinations and essential diagnostic tests. After undergoing careful evaluation, Ajwa was diagnosed with Tetralogy of Fallot. It is a congenital heart defect involving four structural abnormalities of the heart that disrupt normal blood circulation. To save Ajwa’s life and ensure healthy development, the doctor recommended open-heart surgery for total correction.

Ajwa lives in a modest home with her four family members. Her father is the sole breadwinner and works as a shopkeeper, earning only PKR 25,000 per month. This meager income was barely enough to manage food and basic household expenses. Arranging money for a complex and costly heart surgery was impossible for the family. During this time of distress, Ajwa’s parents contacted Transparent Hands. After listening to their concerns, we swiftly registered her case.

On November 19, 2025, Ajwa Fatima was admitted to Ittefaq Hospital, Lahore. Dr. Asim Khan successfully performed open-heart surgery for total correction on November 21, 2025. The procedure was completed smoothly, and Ajwa was shifted to intensive care for close monitoring. She was discharged in stable condition on November 26, 2025.

Ajwa’s parents shared their emotions in the following words: “The fear of losing our daughter never left us as her condition worsened daily. After the surgery, she is well now and is no longer facing complications. We are deeply grateful to you for saving her life and giving her a second chance at life.”

Today, Ajwa Fatima is recovering well at home. She is progressing towards a healthier childhood. Her family is immensely grateful to you and the PCHF for giving their daughter a new start in life and replacing fear with lasting hope.
