Success Story

Read how a free surgery funded by Transparent Hands donors transformed a patient's life.

Abdul Qadir, a 64-year-old man from Karachi, was living with pain in the upper right side of his abdomen. He frequently experienced nausea, vomiting, and indigestion, particularly after eating fatty meals. As his condition worsened, even routine activities became increasingly difficult. Hoping to find relief, Abdul Qadir visited a local hospital for an evaluation. After an ultrasound scan and the necessary laboratory investigations, the doctor diagnosed him with cholelithiasis. To relieve his symptoms and prevent further complications, the doctor recommended laparoscopic cholecystectomy, a surgical procedure to remove the gallbladder. The cost of the surgery was beyond Abdul Qadir's financial means.

He earns only PKR 18,000 per month by cleaning vehicles. His wife has passed away, leaving him responsible for supporting his family. One of his daughters is married, while his three unmarried sons are mentally challenged and depend entirely on him for their care. The family survives on his modest income and occasionally relies on financial assistance from relatives to meet basic household expenses. With no savings available for surgery, Abdul Qadir reached out to Transparent Hands for help. After reviewing his medical reports and financial circumstances, his case was registered.

On May 6, 2026, Abdul Qadir was admitted to the Altamash General Hospital, Karachi. His laparoscopic cholecystectomy was successfully performed by Dr. Abdul Waheed. The surgery removed the gallbladder containing the gallstones that had been causing his pain and digestive discomfort. After receiving post-operative care and observation, he was discharged in stable condition on May 7, 2026.

Abdul Qadir shared his gratitude in these words:

"I had no way to afford this surgery. Your generosity has relieved me of the pain I lived with for so long. I will always be thankful for your generous support."

The successful surgery has relieved Abdul Qadir's pain and digestive problems.

He and his family extend their heartfelt gratitude for your generosity, which made this treatment possible.
